HIP HOP 101: ‘BORN FROM FLAMES’

(RAS) Riders Against the Storm present an ‘inter-active hip-hop history cipher.’ Hip hop was the thunderous rumble of a creative youth movement that emerged out of the desperate poverty of the South Bronx. During this two-hour workshop/inter-active game, RAS will recreate the activities and art that were pouring out of New York ghettos in the early 70s. Through a competitive team game format similar to the popular Survivor television series, ‘Born From Flames’ uniquely simulates the environments, political conditions and movements that surrounded the birth of the world’s most popular art form.  The last half-hour will be closed out with a performance by the award-winning husband and wife hip-hop duo.
